Amerks sign Sheppard to PTO

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Americans General Manager Jody Gage announced today that the team has signed Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs right wing Scott Sheppard to a professional tryout contract.

Sheppard currently leads the Central Hockey League (CHL) with 18 goals and 10 power-power goals. In 15 games he has 23 points (18+5), which is eighth best in the league. He has scored in 11 of his first 15 games this season for the Mudbugs, and recorded his third, fourth and fifth multiple-goal outings of the season last week as Bossier-Shreveport posted a record of 1-1-1 in three home games. For his effort, he was the recipient of the Oakley CHL Player of the Week award for Week Six.

In 2004-05, the Hamilton, Ontario, native began the year with the Rochester Americans and recorded three goals and one assist in four preseason contests. After his stint in Rochester, he joined the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs (CHL), where he enjoyed an impressive rookie campaign. He scored 27 goals and added 23 assists in 58 games for the Mudbugs. He also played in two regular season games with the Amerks.

The Amerks visit the Manitoba Moose for two games to begin the month of December. Rochester (12-9-0-0, 24 points) battles the first-place Moose (15-7-1-2, 33 points) on Friday, December 2nd and Saturday, December 3rd. Both games are 8:30 p.m. starts will be broadcast on WHTK 1280-AM and webcast on the B2 Networks. The game is also available to on-line viewers on the B2 Networks for $6.00.
