WHEELING, WV - The Wheeling Nailers, the "AA" affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Wheeling Nailers have announced that the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have recalled forward Kyle Rank from the Wheeling.
Rank, 25, has recorded 18 points (9g,9a) and 17 penalty minutes in two stints with the Nailers this season. In his most recent assignment, he recorded five points (3g, 2a) in just seven games.
The Elmira, Ontario native has appeared in 24 games with the WBS Penguins this season, recording one assist. He began the season with Wheeling, recording 12 points (5g,7a) in 22 games with the Nailers before being recalled by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on December 11, 2007.
The graduate of St. Lawrence University was signed by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton as a free agent on June 11, 2007.
The Nailers take on the Cincinnati Cyclones tonight at 7:35pm inside WesBanco Arena. Former Pirates and World Series champions Bob Robertson and Grant Jackson will be in attendance and signing autographs from 7-8pm. Also mascots the Pirate Parrott and Captain Jolly Roger will entertain the crowd along with the Cannonball Crew.
It is also St. Baldrick's Night with $1 from every regularly priced ticket sold will be donated to St. Baldrick's Foundation to help raise awareness and funds to cure kid's cancer. The Nailers St. Patrick's Day jerseys will also be auctioned off after the game but online bidding has already begun at www.wheelingnailers.com.
