Pensacola Ice Pilots News Release

PENSACOLA, FL - The Pensacola Ice Pilots have teamed up with the Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola Officers' Spouses' Organization to help stock the pantry of the new United Service Organization (USO) branch that opened onboard NAS February 1st.

Beginning Saturday and at all remaining home games, fans can bring non-perishable food items including snacks, cookies and crackers for the troops.

"The USO appreciates the efforts of the Ice Pilots on behalf of our military members in providing snacks and that touch of home through their Stock the Pantry Drive," said Heidi Blair, USO Center Director. "We appreciate the community support and love they show for our troops."

The USO branch re-opened for the first time since Hurricane Ivan in 2004. It offers individuals the opportunity to watch TV, play pool, and use the library in a non-alcohol environment. The new center is seeing an overwhelming response, with 150-200 people on average using it per day.

Don't miss the hard hitting, exciting action, as the Ice Pilots' next home game is Saturday, March 15 at 7:05 p.m. vs. the Charlotte Checkers at the Civic Center. It is Military Night as the Ice Pilots will dress in camouflage jerseys which will be auctioned off. Group Tickets and Military Packages are still available through the Ice Pilots office. For more information, or to reserve your seats, call (850) 432-PUCK, or visit the Ice Pilots web site at www.icepilots.com.
