Fresno Falcons News Release
Stockton, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons improved their road unbeaten streak to eight games with a 4-3 win over the Stockton Thunder on Friday in front of 7,058 fans at Stockton Arena. Fresno is 6-0-2 in its last eight road games.
Fresno took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission, scoring the only goal of the opening period at 4:34. Josh Prudden picked up a loose puck behind the Stockton net, and centered a pass for Brady Leisenring, who redirected a shot past goaltender Glenn Fisher for his 23rd goal of the season.
Mike Ramsay doubled Fresno's lead with his 16th goal of the season 1:45 into the second period. Oren Eizenman won a face-off in the Stockton zone, and Ramsay picked up the loose puck on the side wall, skated to the hash marks, and beat Fisher with a backhand shot high to the glove side for his 16th goal of the season.
Stockton pulled even with a pair of goals just 1:18 apart midway through the period. Phil Cole got the Thunder on the board with his first goal of the season at 14:02, taking a backdoor pass from Joel Stepp and banging a shot past Kris Mayotte from the left wing side.
Tom Zanoski scored a power-play goal at 15:20, centering a pass in front of the Fresno net which deflected off of a Falcons' defensemen skate, and into the net, tying the game at 2.
But, the Falcons scored a power-play goal of their own at 18:04 to regain the lead. Daryl Marcoux moved the puck to Leisenring, who quickly hit Prudden in the left-wing circle, and Prudden snapped a shot beyond Fisher's reach to give Fresno a 3-2 lead after two periods.
Stockton tied the game again 2:31 into the third period. Mayotte stopped Ryan MacMurchy's shot from the right-wing side, but the rebound settled on Frederik Johansson's stick, and he beat Mayotte from the left-wing side for his third goal of the year.
Matt Stefanishion put the Falcons ahead 4-3 at the 11:54 mark. Stefanishion took a drop pass from Eizenman in the left-wing circle, and blasted a shot past Fisher for his 17th of the season.
Fresno held on from there for the win, with Mayotte turning aside 31 Stockton shots to improve to 16-7-4 on the season.
