SAN ANTONIO (Nov. 23, 2005) - The San Antonio Rampage announced today that their parent club, the Phoenix Coyotes, have recalled defenseman Matt Jones from the American Hockey League team.
The 22-year-old blueliner has compiled 7 assists and 8 penalty minutes (PIM) while playing in all 19 games with San Antonio this season. He ranks 2nd on the team in assists and tied for 5th in points. Among Rampage defensemen, Jones ranks 2nd in both assists and points. He also played in 4 preseason games with the Coyotes in 2005, recording 6 PIM.

Jones enjoyed a successful collegiate career, playing four seasons at the University of North Dakota (WCHA). In 162 career games with North Dakota, he recorded 16-36-52 and 152 PIM. Jones was named an All-WCHA Second Team selection in 2003-04, an All-WCHA Third Team selection in 2004-05 and twice earned a selection to the All-WCHA Academic Team (2002-03 and 2003-04).
