Grand Rapids Griffins News Release

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins on Wednesday announced that defenseman Kyle Quincey has been recalled by the Detroit Red Wings.

Quincey, 20, is enjoying an impressive rookie season in the American Hockey League. He leads all Griffins defensemen with 13 points and 11 assists in 18 games, and has already posted scoring streaks of three and four games this year.

Detroit's second choice (132nd overall) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Quincey tallied two goals and an assist in a 6-5 shootout loss to Houston on Oct. 29, becoming the first Grand Rapids blue-liner to light the lamp twice since Niklas Kronwall (Nov. 24, 2004 at CIN).

The Kitchener, Ontario, native and two-time Ontario Hockey League all-star completed a stellar junior career with Mississauga last season, setting personal-bests with 15 goals, 31 assists and 46 points. He was the final cut from Canada's 2005 World Junior Championship team.

Quincey will be available to make his NHL debut tonight when the Red Wings host the Colorado Avalanche at 7:30 p.m.
