San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO – Jan. 7, 2004 – The American Hockey League announced today that San Antonio Rampage left wing Eric Beaudoin was among 21 skaters and three goaltenders named to the Canadian roster for the 2004 Pepsi AHL All-Star Classic, to be played next month at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Mich.

AHL fans determined the starting lineup via on-line balloting at theahl.com, while a committee of AHL coaches selected the remainder of the roster. The PlanetUSA AHL All-Star team roster will be announced on Thursday.

Beaudoin, 23, will be making his first AHL All-Star game appearance. He is the second player to be representing the Rampage in the annual event after defenseman Filip Novak played for PlanetUSA in the 2003 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic in Portland, Maine last year during the Rampages' inaugural season.

Beaudoin has appeared in all 31 games for the Rampage this year and leads the team in points (34), assists (21) and goals (13). He ranks sixth (tied) in the AHL in game-winning goals (4), seventh (tied) in points, eighth (tied) in assists.

"It's certainly a well deserved honor," said Rampage head coach Scott Allen. "He's off to his best start in his young professional career."

The Ottawa, Ontario native has tallied eight multiple-point nights so far this season, including a four point night (all assists) against the 2003 Calder Cup Champion Houston Aeros on Nov. 23, 2003. Beaudoin's has enjoyed a six-game scoring streak (Nov. 9-28) recording 12 points (4-8=12 pts.). On Nov. 20, 2003, he recorded his 100th AHL career point against Chicago.

The 6-foot-5, 225-pound forward was traded to Florida from Tampa Bay on June 1, 2000 in exchange for Florida's seventh-round pick in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. Beaudoin was originally Tampa Bay's fourth choice (92nd overall) in the 1998 Entry Draft.

The event gets underway on Sunday, February 8, with the 2004 AHL All-Star Skills Competition at 7:00 p.m. (ET). The annual All-Star Game follows at 7:00 p.m. (ET) on Monday, February 9, and will be televised live in the United States and Canada.

Of the 295 players to take part in the AHL All-Star Classic since 1995, more than 91 percent have competed in the NHL, including Daniel Briere, Andrew Brunette, Anson Carter, Pavol Demitra, Rick DiPietro, J.P. Dumont, Mike Dunham, Patrik Elias, Rico Fata, Manny Legace, John Madden, Brendan Morrison, Ladislav Nagy, Vaclav Prospal, Dwayne Roloson, Martin St. Louis, Marc Savard, Jason Spezza, Steve Sullivan and Tomas Vokoun.
