
Hamilton loses decision to Phantoms

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Hamilton Bulldogs were edged 3-2 by the Philadelphia Phantoms at the Wachovia Spectrum on Wednesday night. The Bulldogs record now stands at 21 wins, 14 losses, 5 ties and 1 overtime loss. Hamilton is now on a season high five-game winless streak (0-3-2).
Scoring for the Bulldogs on Wednesday night were Jozef Balej (21) and Chris Higgins (8). Balej continues to lead the Bulldogs in scoring with 40 points (21-19-40) on the season.
The Phantoms had goals from three different scorers including from Mike Peluso, Peter White and Nick Deschenes.
Olivier Michaud made 20 saves and lost his first career start for the Bulldogs. Antero Niittymaki stopped 20 of 22 shots for the Phantoms, improving his record to 9-7-4.
On the power play the Bulldogs scored once on eight opportunities. The Phantoms did not score on four power play opportunities.
The Phantoms won both games in the season series versus the Bulldogs. Philadelphia picked up a 1-0 shutout win in Hamilton back on December 23rd.
The Hamilton Bulldogs next action will take place on Friday, January 9th at 7:00 p.m. when they host the Cleveland Barons at Copps Coliseum.
