
Brandon Reid Named to All-Star Classic

Today the AHL announced that Manitoba Moose centre Brandon Reid has been named to the Canadian AHL All-Star team for the 2004 Dodge AHL All-Star Classic to be held Febuary 8th & 9th, 2004 at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, MI.
Reid, 22, is the team's leading scorer with nine goals and 31 points in all 39 games played this season by the Moose. He is also the team leader with 22 assists. The Kirkland, PQ native is off to a fast start this season and is on pace to set career highs in assists and points. In his last 14 games, Reid has collected 18 points (3G,15A), including a four-game points streak between December 21st â 29th, 2003. He has one game-winning goal this season and is a +2.
Last season, Reid was Manitoba's leading scorer with 52 points (18G, 34A) and 18 penalty minutes. He registered ten multipoint games last year with the Moose. Reid has played in 172 games for the Moose over his three-year career and has scored 45 goals, 77 assists for 121 points. Reid also played in seven regular season games with the NHL's Vancouver Canucks last season, scoring two goals and five points. He also saw action in nine playoff games for Vancouver, registering one assist.
Reid was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks with their fifth choice, 208th overall, in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. He was originally assigned to Manitoba prior to the start of the 2002-03 season on September 25/02 and then reassigned on March 2/03.
The two-part event, which pits the Canadian AHL All-Stars against the PlanetUSA AHL All-Stars, begins Sunday, February 8th with the Pepsi All-Star Skills Competition at 7:00 p.m. The All-Star Game will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 9th and will be televised live in Canada on Rogers Sportsnet. The AHL will announce members of the PlanetUSA All-Star team Thursday, January 8, 2004.
