SHOTS FROM THE POINT 08-09
SPEED RACER: David Spina continues to make it happen on the ice. The 5- 10 speedster from Mesa, AZ has four multi-point games in his last seven, all wins. He also netted his first career hat trick on New Year's Day against Lake Erie in a 6-2 win, which also marked the Rampage's first hat trick since Oct. 19, 2007 vs. Houston.
HULKING UP: Team Captain Jeff Hoggan has tied the franchise record with a goal in five straight games. He can have the record all to himself with a goal in Chicago on Wednesday. Hoggan will also have a shot to take the season points streak away from Wyatt Smith who set it at six games last week.
WE WILL RAMPAGE: San Antonio is not the same team that started the season 2-20-0-1. Besides the return of Spina and Joel Perrault, the Rampage have received a lift from 10-year veteran Wyatt Smith. Since December the trio has 12 goals and 24 assists, including 4 power-play goals, 3 game-winning goals and 2 empty netters.
ROOKIE REWARDS: The Rampage rookies continue to make it happen. Defenseman David Schlemko has three multi-point games in his last six and leads the team with 15 assists. Left wing Brett MacLean and forward Chad Kolarik are tied for the team lead with 20 points along with Hoggan.
HOME SWEET HOME: The Rampage began the year 2-11 at the AT&T Center. Since 12/4, San Antonio has not been a welcome spot for any AHL opponent. The Rampage are 8-1 averaging 3.22 goals per game with three shutouts. Meanwhile, they have allowed only two opponents to score more than 2 goals and the Rampage won both of those contests. San Antonio's only loss came against Chicago, 2-1, but the Rampage took down the Wolves 5-3 the very next night. The Rampage begin a six-game homestand Friday when Milwaukee comes to town.
ROAD TO NOWHERE: Once the only winless team in the AHL on the road, the Rampage are taking on all comers. The Rampage have won three of five away from the AT&T Center including three wins against division opponents.
