
Mihalik and Wishart Return to Norfolk; Ganzak Released

TAMPA BAY, FL - The Tampa Bay Lightning, NHL parent club of the Norfolk Admirals, have returned defensemen Vladimir Mihalik and Ty Wishart to the Admirals, Lightning Executive Vice President & General Manager Brian Lawton announced today. In addition, the Admirals have released defenseman Mitch Ganzak from his Professional Tryout Contract (PTO).
Mihalik, 6-foot-7, 222 pounds, appeared in three games with Tampa Bay after being recalled on January 1. He registered his first NHL point with an assist yesterday in the Lightning's 4-1 win at Atlanta. During the recall, Mihalik registered one assist and two penalty minutes. Mihalik has appeared in his first five career NHL games with Tampa Bay this season, registering one assist and two penalty minutes. He was drafted by the Lightning in the first round, 30th overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
Mihalik has appeared in 29 games with Norfolk this season scoring two goals and six assists with 28 penalty minutes. The native of Presov, Slovakia, made his professional debut last season, recording one goal and 16 points in 68 games with the Admirals. In 97 career AHL games with Norfolk, Mihalik has three goals and 24 points.
Wishart, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound rookie defenseman, made his NHL debut Saturday, January 3 versus Carolina. He logged 7:53 of ice time and blocked two shots.
The Comcox, British Columbia native has appeared in 31 games for Norfolk this season, scoring one goal and two assists with 13 penalty minutes and a +2 rating. He scored his first professional goal on December 19 versus Albany. Wishart made his professional debut last April with the Worcester Sharks, appearing in five games without registering a point. In 36 career AHL games, he has one goal and three points with 13 penalty minutes.
Wishart was acquired by the Lightning in a trade with the San Jose Sharks on July 4. He was originally drafted by the Sharks in the first round (16th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
Ganzak, a 6-foot-0, 205-pound defenseman, was scoreless in one game with Norfolk after being signed to a PTO on Saturday. He has appeared in 29 games with the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers, scoring four goals and adding 18 assists with 22 penalty minutes.
The Admirals return to Scope this week to kick off a nine-game homestand with nothing but home games from January 7-30. The homestand begins for Norfolk against their East Division Rivals, the Hershey Bears, on Wednesday night at 7:15 p.m.
