Manitoba Moose News Release

The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose announced today they have re-assigned goaltender Cory Schneider to the Moose.

Schneider, 22, was the AHL's leading goaltender after his first 11 appearances this season before he was recalled to the Canucks on Nov. 22/08. At the time, the Marblehead, MA native had a goals against average of 1.37 and was second in the league with a save percentage at .945. He has record of 10-1-0 and is currently riding a franchise-record 10-game personal winning streak with one shutout on Nov. 2/08 at Peoria. He has played in 47 games in his two-year pro career with the Moose. Last season, he compiled a record of 20-12-2 with a goals against average of 2.28 and a save percentage of .913 - both of which ranked second amongst AHL rookie netminders. Schneider was named the Rbk Edge/AHL Rookie of the Month for March and started all six Calder Cup games for Manitoba in the playoffs where he posted a 2-4 record with a 1.92 goals against average and a .938 save percentage.

This was Schneider's first-ever appearance in the NHL. He appeared in eight games and compiled a record of 2-4-1 with a goals against average of 3.38 and a save percentage of .877. He made his NHL debut Nov. 29 @ Calgary where he stopped 28 of 31 shots in a 3-0 defeat. He earned his first-ever NHL win Dec. 5 @ Minnesota after stopping 16 of 17 shots.

He was originally drafted by Vancouver in the first round, 26th overall, in the 2004 NHL entry draft.
