San Antonio Rampage News Release
OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 28, 2015) - The San Antonio Rampage (31-19-5-0) were shut out by the Oklahoma City Barons (34-15-3-3) 4-0 in front of 2,539 at Cox Convention Center Saturday night for their first regulation loss against the Barons this season. San Antonio is now 4-4-1 on the Rodeo Road Trip, wrapping up the final weekend of this year's trip against their second to last opponent.
Brett Olson and Ryan Martindale both skated in their 200th professional game.
Neither team was able to put a dent the scoreboard in the first 20 minutes, but Connor Jones gave the Barons the first tally of the night 6:10 into the second period when he jammed the puck past Dan Ellis with help from Matthew Ford and Jason Williams. Oklahoma City's Jujhar Khaira made it a 2-0 game at 15:59, and just 0:27 later, Bogdan Yakimov gave the Barons their third unanswered goal of the period.
Yakimov sent the puck to Andrew Miller who shelved a shot past Ellis for a fourth and final goal at 11:47 of the final frame.
Dan Ellis made 31 saves on 35 shots, and Laurent Brossoit turned away all 31 Rampage shots. San Antonio held Oklahoma City scoreless on four power-play opportunities.
KEY STAT
Corban Knight and Quinton Howden finished the night with team-high four shots each, and the Rampage were outshot for the 18th time this season
The Silver and Black are now 21-6-2-0 against the West Division, dropping their first in regulation to Oklahoma City since March 25, 2014 and posting a record of 7-1-2-0 in this year's season series so far.
LINEUP NOTES
The lines remained unchanged from Friday night's game. Dany Heatley, who was acquired by the Florida Panthers and assigned to San Antonio, and Garrett Wilson, who was reassigned to Rampage earlier in the day, did not play in Saturday's game. Ellis made his 36th start of the season.
To start the final frame, Howden, Olson and Bobby Butler skated as the Rampage's top line, and Wade Megan, Logan Shaw and John McFarland skated as a new line combination for the third period. Rocco Grimaldi skated with Connor Brickley on a third line.
