Florida Panthers Acquire F Dany Heatley & 2015 Third-Round Draft from Anaheim

SUNRISE, Fla. - Florida Panthers Executive Vice President and General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has acquired F Dany Heatley and a third-round choice in the 2015 NHL Draft from Anaheim in exchange for F Tomas Fleischmann. Heatley is expected to report to the San Antonio Rampage (AHL).

Heatley, 34, has appeared in 869 National Hockey League games with the Atlanta Thrashers, Ottawa Senators, San Jose Sharks, Minnesota Wild and Anaheim Ducks, recording 791 points (372-419-791) and 620 PIM. He has played in 77 postseason contests with Ottawa, San Jose and Minnesota, recording 63 points (16-47-63).

In his 13-year NHL playing career, he recorded back-to-back 50 goal seasons (2005-2006 & 2006-2007) with Ottawa. He was also awarded the Calder Trophy, given to the NHL's rookie of the year, in 2001-2002 with Atlanta.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound forward played in six games with Anaheim this season, before being assigned to the Norfolk Admirals (AHL) on Dec. 30. Heatley has appeared in 25 games with Norfolk, registering seven points (2-5-7).

Heatley was drafted by Atlanta in the first round (second overall) in the 2000 NHL Draft.

Fleischmann, 30, has played in 567 NHL games recording 304 points (122-182-304). He appeared in 262 games with Florida, scoring 54 goals with 91 assists.
