Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

WORCESTER, Mass. - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders split two games with the Worcester Red Sox on Tuesday night at Polar Park. The RailRiders took the first game, a suspended contest that began on July 17, 7-4 and dropped the night cap 2-0.

Corey Kluber allowed three runs on two hits in 3.0-plus innings of work in his second game of his MLB rehab assignment, walking two and striking out four. The two-time Cy Young Award winner threw 56 pitches in the resumed game.

Miguel Andujar went 1-for-3 in the first game of his MLB rehab assignment while playing five innings in left field in game two. In the fifth game of his MLB rehab assignment, Trey Amburgey was 1-for-4 while playing all nine innings in right.

The July 17 contest resumed with no score heading into the top of the sixth inning. The RailRiders struck in the top of the seventh when Kyle Holder drilled a triple off the wall in right to score Socrates Brito and give SWB a 1-0 lead.

Worcester took a brief 2-1 lead on a Jeter Downs homer in the bottom of the seventh off Kluber (1-0). In the top of the eighth, the RailRiders rallied for three runs on three hits and poured on three more in the ninth as the WooSox committed four errors in the frame.

The Red Sox rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth and brought the tying run to the plate against Sal Romano, but the right-hander was able to close out the 7-4 win.

In the second game Josh Maciejewski turned in a terrific start, allowing only two hits in 5.0 scoreless innings of work. The lefty walked only one and struck out two in his fourth start of the year with the RailRiders.

Unfortunately, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre bats were silent against Raynel Espinal, who allowed only one hit - a leadoff single for Andujar in the first - in 7.0 shutout innings. Espinal and reliever Phillips Valdez combined to retire 24 of 25 RailRiders hitters.

After two shutout innings from Reggie McClain, Worcester took the lead with two outs in the bottom of the eighth on back-to-back home runs by Connor Wong and Jeter Downs off Nick Goody.

In the top of the ninth the RailRiders put runners on first and third with one out, but Kaleb Ort stranded the runners there to finish off the WooSox victory.

The RailRiders continue their series with the Red Sox on Wednesday night at Polar Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. RHP Clarke Schmidt makes his Triple-A debut for SWB, while the WooSox counter with LHP Kyle Hart (4-6, 4.40). Coverage on the RailRiders Baseball Network begins at 6:15 p.m.

SWB returns home to PNC Field on August 31 to begin a series with the Buffalo Bisons. For tickets and more information, call (570) 969-BALL or slide to www.swbrailriders.com/tickets.
