MOOSIC, PA - Ceddanne Rafaela drove in a season-high four runs as the Worcester Red Sox (11-5, 50-41) bounced back with an 11-5 victory over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (9-6, 43-46) on Wednesday at PNC Field.

The WooSox turned their first triple play in franchise history in the fifth inning. The play went 5-4-3. With runners and first and second and nobody out, third baseman Bobby Dalbec fielded a ground ball hit by Michael Hermosillo and stepped on third to force out Jake Lamb. Dalbec threw to Nick Sogard at second to retire Jamie Westbrook. Sogard then threw to first to get Hermosillo. It was the first triple play turned by a Red Sox Triple-A affiliate since the Pawtucket Red Sox turned a triple play on April 22, 2018 against the Gwinnett Stripers.

Worcester plated the game's first run. After David Hamilton, Nick Sogard, and Ceddanne Rafaela reached to begin the game, Bobby Dalbec lifted a sacrifice fly to center to give Worcester a 1-0 lead.

Sogard led off the third with a triple and came in to score on a Dalbec single two batters later.

With two on and two out in the fourth, Rafaela chopped a double down the third base line to score a pair and put the WooSox on top 4-0.

In the sixth, David Hamilton lined a single to center that scored Stephen Scott and extended Worcester's lead to 5-0.

But the RailRiders responded in the bottom of the sixth. Both Jesus Bastidas and Wilmer Difo singled to begin the frame, and then Greg Allen launched a three-run homer over the left-field fence to cut the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre deficit to 5-3.

The WooSox erupted for six runs in the eighth. Three of the runs came on bases loaded walks to Narciso Crook, Hamilton, and Sogard. Rafaela lined a two-run single to right to make it a 10-3 ballgame. Dalbec grounded into a double play to bring in Worcester's 11th run.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre scored two in the eighth on RBI's from Lamb and Westbrook.

In his fifth start with the WooSox, Kyle Barraclough picked up his fifth win. The right-hander turned in his third quality start, throwing six innings and allowing three runs on four hits. Barraclough walked three and struck out two.

The WooSox continue their six-game series with the RailRiders tomorrow night at 6:35 p.m. Right-hander Dinelson Lamet is the scheduled starter for Worcester. Radio coverage begins at 6:15 p.m. on 98.9 Nash Icon and the rest of the WooSox Radio Network.
