Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - After taking a three-run lead in the second the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp offense fell silent as the Nashville Sounds plated five unanswered runs in a 5-3 win Wednesday night at First Horizon Park.
The Sounds (49-41, 9-7) tied the game in the third after falling behind 3-0 in the second. Abraham Toro started the inning with a double and went to third on a single from Keston Hiura. Skye Bolt walked, loading the bases and Alex Jackson singled off Jacksonville (41-50, 9-8) starter Ronald Bolaños but an errant throw to first allowed two runs to score to cut the deficit 3-2. Bolt went to third on the error and he scored on a sac fly from Patrick Dorrian, tying the game at three.
Nashville took the lead in the bottom of the sixth. Monte Harrison and Luis Urias worked consecutive walks and a double-steal put runners on second and third. Harrison scored from third on a fielder's choice by Sal Frelick, giving the Sounds their first lead of the day 4-3.
The final run of the game came in the bottom of the seventh for Nashville. Hiura singled and went to second on a throwing error charged to Jacksonville reliever Robert Garcia. Two batters later, Jackson knocked a base hit scoring Hiura to pad the Sounds lead to 5-3.
The Jumbo Shrimp got on the board first in the top of the second inning. With one out, Jordan Groshans singled and went to second on a fielding error by Nashville left fielder Bolt. Paul McIntosh walked and Brian Miller swatted a base hit to score Groshans and put Jacksonville ahead 1-0. McIntosh went to third and then scored on a groundout from C.J. Hinojosa to put the Jumbo Shrimp up 2-0. Miller advanced to third on the groundout and scored on a single from Jake Mangum for a 3-0 Jacksonville lead.
The series continues Thursday between Jacksonville and Nashville with first pitch set for 7:35 p.m. ET. The Jumbo Shrimp hand the ball to RHP Jeff Lindgren (6-4, 5.07 ERA) and the Sounds will counter with RHP Jason Alexander (1-1, 4.76 ERA).
