LOUISVILLE, KY -- Chuckie Robinson and Matt Reynolds combine for six hits and seven RBI as the Louisville Bats (49-41) overpower the Columbus Clippers (41-49) 12-4 on Wednesday night at Louisville Slugger Field.

Louisville took the game's first lead in the bottom of inning number one after Nick Martini singled and later came around to score on an RBI double off the bat of Matt Reynolds to make the score 1-0.

In the second, both TJ Hopkins and Jose Barrero reached on a walk and a hit by pitch to give the Bats two on and nobody out. A single from Chuckie Robinson brought Hopkins around to score and extend the Louisville lead to 2-0.

Columbus took a 4-2 lead in the top of the third after four unearned runs came across on a two-out grand slam following a Louisville defensive error.

The grand slam was one of just two hits given up for Louisville starter Randy Wynne (3-2, 5.27) who struck out four, walked one and conceded just the four unearned runs.

The Bats responded in the bottom of the fifth after Henry Ramos opened up the inning with a single followed by a Noelvi Marte double, to put two runners in scoring position with no outs. A sacrifice fly from Hopkins brought home the first run of the inning before Robinson's second RBI single of the game scored Marte to tie the game at four.

Still in the fifth, Robinson scored after three straight walks were issued to Michael Siani, Stuart Fairchild and Martini, loading the bases with two outs. Louisville stretched its lead to 7-4 after Reynolds brought home a pair with an RBI single of his own.

In the bottom of the sixth, a pair of singles from Marte and Barrero turned into a run after Chuckie Robinson put the ball in play to score Marte on a fielder's choice, extending the Bats lead to 8-4.

With two outs in the seventh inning, Matt Reynolds singled and stole second base to place himself in scoring position for Ramos to bring him home with a second consecutive two out single, stretching the lead to 9-4 Bats.

Louisville put the game out of reach in the bottom of the eighth, plating three more runs on three hits, highlighted by Chuckie Robinsons third hit and fourth RBI of the night, bringing the score to 12-4 where it would hold through the games finish.

The series will continue with game three tomorrow, Thursday, July 20 at 6:35 pm E.T. Right hander Michael Mariot (4-0, 2.63) is set to toe the rubber for the Bats while Zach Plesac (2-4, 7.13) is expected to go for the Clippers.
