
Police & Firefighter Appreciation Weekend This Friday & Saturday

BRIDGEPORT, CT â The American Hockey League's 2001-02 Regular Season Champion and Eastern Conference Playoff Champion Bridgeport Sound Tigers, top affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Islanders, will hold "Police & Firefighter Appreciation Weekend" when they host the Hershey Bears this Friday at 7:35 p.m. and the Albany River Rats this Saturday at 7:05 p.m. at Bridgeport's Arena at Harbor Yard.
Police Officers and Firefighters who show their badge at the Harbor Yard box office or in advance at the Sound Tigers office may purchase tickets at a discounted price of $19.50 for center-ice seats or $12.50 for all other seats. Police Officers and Firefighters will be seated together in the same sections, and individual groups will be recognized over the public address system and the digital display boards.
The first five-thousand fans who enter Friday's game will receive a Sound Tigers team poster courtesy of the Connecticut Post. Wives, fiancées and girlfriends of the Sound Tigers will also present proceeds from the "Holiday Candy Gram" and "Send A Valentine To Your Favorite Sound Tiger" fundraisers to the Kennedy Center prior to the game, and WTNH-TV News Channel 8 will sponsor the first-ever Sound Tigers "Chuck-A-Puck" during one of the intermissions Friday.
Saturday will be "Trumbull Appreciation Night" with discounted tickets for town residents who show proof of residency at the Harbor Yard box office, and First Selectman Raymond Baldwin Jr. dropping the puck for a ceremonial pregame face-off. There will also be a second-intermission MasterCard mini-hockey game featuring teams from the Darien Youth Hockey Association and the Stamford Youth Hockey Association Saturday.
