Cleveland Barons News Release
CLEVELAND, OH - Ryan Kraft registered his 10th goal of the year and added an assist in leading the Barons to a 3-2 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs. Patrick Rissmiller and Jeff Nelson also added goals for the Barons who defeated Hamilton for the first time in six tries this season.
In the middle stanza the Barons scored the game's first goal as Ryan Kraft moved out in front of the net with the puck and beat Hamilton goalie Ty Conklin. Twenty-six seconds later the American Hockey League leaders tied the score 1-1 when Michael Ryder beat Vesa Toskala for his 27th goal of the campaign. Then, late in the period with the man advantage Kraft was taken off the puck by the Bulldogs defense but Patrick Rissmiller trailed the play and the rookie from Holy Cross snapped a shot by Conklin for his ninth goal of the season. The goal was Rissmiller's fourth this year on the power play and spotted the Barons a 2-1 lead after forty minutes.
The pivotal next goal paced the Barons to a 3-1 lead as Jeff Nelson scored his sixth of the year on assists from Chad Wiseman and Tavis Hansen. Hamilton answered on a Bill Lindsay even strength goal at the midway point of the period, but it wasn't enough to stop the Barons who out shot Hamilton 11-4 in the third period.
The Barons are now 2-0-1-1 in their last four outings at Gund Arena. They will look to add to the impressive stretch on Friday when they host the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins at 7:05pm. The first 3,000 fans at the game will receive an authentic autographed action photo of Barons rookie forward Niko Dimitrakos. Saturday night the Barons host Lowell for a 7:05pm match up at Gund Arena. The night is Fire On Ice as a portion of all ticket sales will benefit the Greater Cleveland Fallen Fire Fighters Fund. All tickets for the Barons home games can be purchased at the Gund Arena Box Office and through all TicketMaster outlets in Northeast Ohio.
