
Pigs' scramble early lead in loss to RailRiders

(Moosic, PA) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (6-4) came storming out of the gates to a 3-0 lead before the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (8-2) rallied to win the game 6-4 on Friday evening at PNC Field.
Mickey Moniak hit an RBI single against Brian Keller in the top of the first inning to give the IronPigs a 1-0 lead. The Pigs added two more runs against Keller in the top of the second inning when Andrew Velazquez committed a fielding error that scored Darick Hall and Edgar Cabral.
Cristopher Sanchez (0-1) and the IronPigs took a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the third inning. The RailRiders scored five runs off Sanchez to take a 5-3 lead. Armando Alvarez hit a two-run home run and was followed by Ryan LaMarre who hit an RBI single. Chris Gittens and LaMarre both scored on walks with the bases loaded.
Sanchez left the game after 2 2/3 innings where he allowed five runs off three hits with four walks and six strikeouts. Damon Jones pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief. Ramon Rosso pitched two innings in relief of Jones. He did allow a run in the bottom of the fifth inning that gave Scranton/Wilkes-Barre a 6-3 lead.
Jeff Singer struck out three batters in one inning of work. J.D. Hammer struck out two batters and issued two walks in the bottom of the eighth inning for the IronPigs. The Pigs were able to get a run against former IronPig Luis Garcia in the top of the ninth when Luke Williams scored on an RBI groundout by Austin Listi.
Kyle Barraclough (1-0) earned the win for the RailRiders after pitching 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief of Keller.
The IronPigs and RailRiders play at 4:05 p.m. on Saturday afternoon at PNC Field.
