Pigs' clinch win 900 in franchise history

(Allentown, Pa) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (47-55) secured their 900th win as a franchise on Thursday night as they beat the Syracuse Mets (39-62) 3-2.

Vince Velasquez retired the first six batters he faced through his first two innings pitched. Syracuse took a 1-0 lead against the Pigs in the top of the third inning when Jose Peraza hit an RBI double against Velasquez to score Martin Cervenka. Velasquez left the game after three innings pitched in which he allowed one run off one hit with two walks issued and three strikeouts.

The Pigs tagged Zack Godley (6-5) for three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 3-1 lead. Adam Haseley, C.J. Chatham, and Darick Hall all hit RBI singles. Godley left the game after six innings in which he allowed three runs off two hits with four walks issued and three strikeouts.

Mason Williams hit an RBI double against Mike Adams to score Wilfredo Tovar and cut Lehigh Valley's lead to 3-2 in the top of the ninth inning. Adams got Cheslor Cuthbert to fly out to centerfield to end the game and earn his first save of the season.

Brady Lail (1-0) earned his first win of the season by pitching 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief with one walk issued and two strikeouts.

Lehigh Valley and Syracuse will meet again on Friday night at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
