Durham Bulls News Release
JACKSONVILLE, FL - Bulls third baseman Mike Brosseau and shortstop Tristan Gray both homered as part of a five-run first inning, however Jumbo Shrimp third baseman Joe Dunand bashed a game-winning home run in Jacksonville's 6-5 win over Durham on Thursday evening at 121 Financial Field.
Brosseau began the scoring spurt in the opening inning with a two-run opposite field blast to right. Gray would later put the exclamation mark on the outburst with a three-run blast to right. The Jumbo Shrimp would get a run back in the second before plating two in the fourth to make it 5-3. That margin would remain the same until the last of the ninth when Bryson Brigman lofted a sacrifice fly before Dunand's two-run shot ended the contest.
Jacksonville southpaw Rob Zastryzny (2.0 IP, 2 H, 2 K) earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief, while Durham right-hander Joey Krehbiel (0.2 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER) suffered the defeat. Bulls relievers David Hess (2.2 IP, 2 H, 2 BB, 2 K), Ryan Sherriff (1.0 IP, K) and Nick Anderson (1.0 IP, K) combined for four shutout frames in support of Aaron Slegers (4.0 IP, 4 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 2 K).
The Bulls and Jumbo Shrimp are scheduled to face off again on Friday night, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05pm. RHP Shane Baz (2-0, 1.80) is anticipated to get the nod for Durham, while LHP Daniel Castano (4-2, 4.63) is slated to toe the rubber for Jacksonville.
The Bulls return home on Tuesday, September 7 for their penultimate homestand of the year, facing off against the Norfolk Tides for seven tilts. Start time for that series' opener is set for 6:35pm. Tickets for that game, as well as all remaining Bulls home games are available and can be purchased at DurhamBulls.com.
