Indianapolis Indians News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - In his second career Triple-A game, Diego Castillo went 4-for-4 to tie a career high in hits and lead the Indianapolis Indians in a win over the Iowa Cubs on Thursday night, 6-2.
Castillo, batting in the No. 2 spot of Indy's lineup as the starting shortstop, notched his eighth career four-hit game and his second of the season (also: June 6 with Double-A Somerset vs. Reading). He reached base safely in all five of his plate appearances with a walk, hit an RBI double in the bottom of the fourth inning and scored three runs.
The Indians (50-54) got on the board in the bottom of the first inning with a two-run home run by Jared Oliva off Ryan Kellogg (L, 1-3). They never trailed in the contest, taking a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning with an RBI double off the bat of Hunter Owen.
The I-Cubs (43-62) plated their only two runs in the fourth inning. With one out, Jared Young hit an RBI triple and a fielder's choice tightened Indy's lead to one.
Castillo's RBI double in the fourth inning scored the Indians first of three insurance runs. They tacked on one run in the sixth and another in the eighth, both on force plays.
Beau Sulser (W, 6-5) tossed his fourth quality start of the season, allowing two unearned runs in six innings.
The Indians will look to secure at least a series tie against the I-Cubs on Friday night at 7:05 PM ET. LHP Cam Vieaux (2-2, 8.13) will face off against RHP Cory Abbott (1-6, 7.22).
