Pats Close Home Pre-season Slate with 3-2 Shootout Loss

Regina, Saskatchewan - The Regina Pats wrapped up their home pre-season schedule with a 3-2 shootout loss to the Prince Albert Raiders on Friday night at the Brandt Centre.

In the first, the Pats opened the scoring late on the powerplay. Austin Pratt tucked in his third of the pre-season to make it 1-0. The Raiders tied it in the second thanks to Ozzy Wiesblatt at 7:43, he added another on the powerplay at 11:51 and Prince Albert led 2-1 after 40 minutes. Regina found the tying goal early in the third when Ty Kolle buried from the right circle for his third of the pre-season. Dawson Holt drew the lone assist, his second helper of the night, and that made it 2-2. The game needed overtime and eventually the Pats took part in their third shootout of the pre-season. Ilya Usau scored the lone goal of the shootout for Prince Albert and they came away with the 3-2 victory.

The Pats were outshot 32-28, the powerplay was one for five and the penalty kill went six for seven. Dawson Holt led the offence with two assists while Dean McNabb made 30 saves.

The Pats (2-2-0-2) will conclude the pre-season on Saturday on the road against the Prince Albert Raiders at 7 p.m.
