Today's Game: The Oklahoma City Dodgers look to even the four-game series against the Round Rock Express when the teams meet for the second time at 7:05 p.m. at Dell Diamond. The Dodgers are 5-16 over the last 21 games and 3-13 over the last 16 games.

Last Game: Round Rock kept its recent roll at the plate going at the expense of Dodgers Thursday night, scoring eight runs on 13 hits in an 8-4 win at Dell Diamond. The Dodgers jumped out to an early lead in the first inning when Alex Verdugo sent a two-run home run to the left of the batter's eye in center field, giving OKC a 2-0 edge. The Express tallied three runs on six hits in the third inning to take the lead, which included a string of five consecutive hits. RBI singles by Drew Robinson, Andy Ibanez and Willie Calhoun put the Express in front at 3-2. Round Rock kept it going in the fourth inning when Hanser Alberto deposited a three-run homer out to left field. Jake Peter responded in the fifth inning with a two-run homer. The Express tacked on two more runs in the eighth inning. Juan Centeno hit a RBI double to deep left field, and Alberto followed with a RBI single to finish the scoring. Round Rock starting pitcher Tyler Wagner (1-3) earned his first win with the Express this season. He allowed four runs on seven hits, with no walks and a season-high six strikeouts. The bullpen duo of left-handers Brady Feigl and Jeffrey Springs kept the Dodgers scoreless over the final four innings while allowing two hits. Springs completed the final two frames to pick up his first save. OKC starting pitcher Daniel Corcino (2-2) allowed season highs with both six runs and eight hits in the loss.

Today's Probable Pitcher: Tyler Pill (2-3) makes his third start of the season against the Express tonight...He made his last start July 5 against the Express in OKC, allowing five runs (four earned) and eight hits over 6.0 innings. He issued two walks and recorded four strikeouts and was charged with the loss in OKC's 7-3 defeat. The Express tallied four runs and four hits in the second inning, but Pill limited Round Rock to one unearned run and four hits across his other five frames...Over his last three starts, Pill has posted a 9.42 ERA (15 ER/14.1 IP) and 2.02 WHIP, while opponents have batted .375...The Dodgers are 6-6 in his starts this season...Pill started his season in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization with Triple-A Reno and was acquired by the Dodgers in a trade for cash considerations April 17...He signed with Arizona in January, and prior to that, spent his entire career in the New York Mets organization...Pill made his MLB debut last season with the Mets May 27, 2017 against Pittsburgh and made seven appearances (three starts) in the Majors (0-3, 5.32 ERA)...Pill was selected by the Mets in the fourth round of the 2011 MLB Draft out of Cal State Fullerton...Tonight is his third start of the season and of his career against the Express. Thus far he is 0-1 and has allowed five runs (four earned) and nine hits over 9.0 innings of work.

Against the Express: 2018: 7-6 2017: 9-6 All-time: 121-98 At RR: 62-46

The Express and Dodgers are meeting again after playing each other in a five-game series in OKC prior to the All-Star Break. Rock Round took four of five games and outscored the Dodgers, 41-23, in the series. The Express opened the series by winning three consecutive games at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark for the first time since 2014 and won three straight in one series in OKC for the first time since 2011...Over the first seven meetings between the teams, the Express batted just .204 while scoring 23 runs. But over the five games at The Brick, the Express batted .356 (69x194) while scoring 41 times...The teams last met in Round Rock April 17-20, with the Dodgers winning the series, 3-1, which still stands as the Dodgers' only four-game road series win this season...The Dodgers won the 2017 head-to-head series, 9-6, and have won three straight season series against Round Rock.

Off the Rails: Since July 4, the Dodgers and Round Rock have met for six consecutive games. The Express has won five of the six meetings while batting .357 (82x230) and scoring 49 runs. Round Rock has notched at least 11 hits in all six games and has scored at least seven runs in four of the six meetings. During that time, the Express has notched a .422 batting average on balls in play, going 73-for-173 (.300 is considered the norm). Round Rock is 27-for-84 (.321) with runners in scoring position, averaging 14 at-bats per game with RISP...The 8-9 batters in the lineup have been especially troublesome, going 24-for-50 (.480) with 22 RBI. Nine-hole hitter Hanser Alberto has been transcendent, going 14-for-26 with three homers and 15 RBI. Prior to July 4, Alberto had hit one home run all season and collected 24 RBI...Dodgers starting pitchers have had a tough go with the Express, allowing 28 runs and 45 hits over 25.2 innings. The starters have allowed at least five runs in four of the six meetings...Of the 53.0 innings pitched, the pitching staff has turned in a 1-2-3 inning only 10 times (19 percent), and Round Rock has had at least two batters reach base via hit or walk in 31 innings (58 percent).

Summer Blues: Following a 5-3 win over Las Vegas on June 17, the Dodgers stood a season-best 17 games above .500 with a 41-24 record and had a 6.0-game lead in the American Northern Division standings. Since that day, they have gone 5-16 over the last 21 games, including 3-13 over the last 16 games. They trail Colorado Springs by 2.5 games in the division standings - the furthest they have been out of first place this season...The Dodgers have a -39 run differential during the 21-game span and four losses have come by six runs or more...Over the 21-game stretch, the pitching staff has a 5.96 ERA and 1.71 WHIP, with opponents batting .316...The starting rotation has given up 65 runs and 106 hits over 76.2 IP during the last 17 games, with eight starts of 4.0 or fewer innings

Teach Me How to Dugie: Alex Verdugo hit a two-run homer in the first inning last night and has hit eight homers this season with OKC. In 2017, Verdugo hit six homers in 117 games with OKC...Over his last six games, Verdugo is 12-for-24 with four multi-hit outings and two homers. His .348 season batting average ranks second in the PCL, narrowly behind Salt Lake's David Fletcher (.350), who is currently with the Los Angeles Angels...Verdugo has 28 hits over his last 19 games and leads the team with 80 hits and 23 multi-hit games this season.

Adding Some Flavor: In his last five games, Kyle Garlick is 11-for-20 with four multi-hit games, three doubles, a homer and five runs scored...Over his last nine games, Garlick is 14-for-33 (.424) with five extra-base hits and five multi-hit games...In July, he paces the Dodgers with 11 hits over seven games with five runs scored.

Henry's Heating Up: Henry Ramos collected a hit in a third straight game last night and over his last 10 games, he is batting .406 (13x32) with five multi-hit games, three homers, seven RBI and five runs scored...Four of his eight homers this season have come in the last 12 games.

Around the Horn: OKC designated hitters this season have combined to bat .331 with 21 extra-base hits and 20 RBI over 41 games...Edwin Ríos is 9-for-22 over his last seven games, and over the last two seasons, he has batted .412 (21x51) against Round Rock...Including last night, the Dodgers have lost six of their last seven games when scoring first (started 30-5).
