
Rainiers Open Second Half With 4-3 Win Over Grizzlies

TACOMA, Wash. - The Tacoma Rainiers (49-42) opened the second half of the season with a 4-3 victory over the Fresno Grizzlies (52-38) on Thursday night at Cheney Stadium. The victory pushed Tacoma to a season-best seven games over the .500 mark.
The Rainiers offense drew 11 walks and pounded out five hits during the contest and were led by third baseman Seth Mejias-Brean (0x2, 3 BB), left fielder John Andreoli (1x3, RBI, 2 BB), shortstop Zach Vincej (1x2, R, RBI, 2 BB), and second baseman Adam Law (1x3, R, 2B, RBI, BB).
Rainiers starting pitcher Bryan Evans (2-1) contributed his second quality start of the season, working six innings and allowing just two runs on five hits (two home runs). He issued one walk and struck out five en route to the win.
Tacoma's bullpen allowed just one run over the final three innings, striking out four. Ryan Garton (1.0 IP) and Ryan Cook (1.0 IP) both tossed scoreless frames, with Cook earning his third save of the season.
Rainiers left-hander Ross Detwiler (2-2, 4.67) and Grizzlies righty Mike Hauschild (7-6, 4.41) will take the mound as the series continues on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. PT.
