Today's Game: The Oklahoma City Dodgers try to take a 2-0 lead in a third straight series when they play the Memphis Redbirds at 7:05 p.m. at AutoZone Park...The Dodgers have won five of their last six games and are 5-0 at AutoZone Park this season.
Last Game: Edwin RÃ-os hit a go-ahead home run in the ninth inning and Gavin Lux collected a season-high four RBI as the Dodgers defeated Memphis, 8-6, Thursday night at AutoZone Park. The contest was tied 6-6 heading into the ninth inning when RÃ-os led off with a home run that went past the OKC bullpen in right-center field to put OKC in front. The Dodgers added another run on a sacrifice fly by Connor Joe following hits by DJ Peters and Kyle Garlick. Memphis put the tying run at the plate with one out in the ninth, but Josh Sborz struck out the next two batters for his second save. After having the bases empty with two outs in the first inning, the Dodgers scored twice on a two-run single by Zach Reks. OKC took a 3-0 lead in the second inning with a RBI single by Lux. Memphis rallied for two runs in the bottom of the second inning and then tied the game in the third inning when Adolis Garcia was hit by a pitch, went to second base on a balk, advanced to third base on a wild pitch and scored on a groundout by Lane Thomas. Memphis took its first lead in the fourth inning. Randy Arozarena drew a walk with two outs, and Edmundo Sosa followed with a single to center field. Peters bobbled the ball while trying to field it, allowing Arozarena to score. The Dodgers regained the lead in the sixth inning. With the bases loaded and two outs, Lux lined a three-run double to deep left field. A RBI double by Thomas and a RBI single by Joe Hudson with two outs in the seventh inning evened the score at 6-6.
Today's Probable Pitchers: Oklahoma native Casey Sadler (0-0) will open tonight's game in Memphis and will likely pitch the first two or three innings...Sadler, who was born in Stillwater, Okla., made his Dodgers team debut July 6 against Round Rock in OKC. He worked the final three innings of OKC's 7-3 win at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark and earned a save, allowing two runs and four hits with four strikeouts...Sadler was acquired by the Dodgers July 3 via a trade with Tampa Bay after being designated for assignment by the Rays June 29...He appeared in nine games with Tampa Bay this season, posting a 1.86 ERA over 19.1 innings...He also pitched in 11 games (three starts) with Triple-A Durham, recording 44 strikeouts against five walks and posting a 2.76 ERA over 32.2 innings...Sadler signed with Tampa Bay as a minor league free agent Dec. 4, 2018 after spending the first eight seasons of his pro career in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization...He was originally selected by Pittsburgh in the 25th round of the 2010 MLB Draft out of Western Oklahoma State and made his MLB debut with the Pirates May 2, 2014...He attended Ripley High School in Ripley, Okla and is the first OKC player to grow up in Oklahoma since Brian Burgamy in 2015.
Brock Stewart (2-7) is scheduled to follow Sadler and looks to rebound after three straight losses...Stewart allowed a career-high 12 runs and tied his career high with 10 hits July 3 in Nashville. He issued two walks and did not record a strikeout over 1.1 innings in OKC's 14-11 loss...During his current three-game skid, Stewart has allowed 25 runs and 27 hits, including six homers, over 11.2 IP...Earlier this season, Stewart made his first career Major League Opening Day roster and appeared in three games for the LA Dodgers before being optioned to OKC April 7...Stewart was selected by the Dodgers in the sixth round of the 2014 MLB Draft from Illinois State University and was named the Dodgers' 2016 Branch Rickey Minor League Pitcher of the Year...Stewart last faced the Redbirds June 21 in OKC, allowing six runs (four earned) and nine hits over 5.1 innings. He did not issue a walk and struck out five.
Against the Redbirds: 2019: 6-4 2018: 6-10 All-time: 180-165 At MEM: 81-93 The Dodgers return to AutoZone Park for the second time this season and this is the third series overall between the teams in 2019...The season series has been controlled by the road team so far, going 9-1...The teams have been nearly even offensively, with OKC owning a slight 60-58 edge in runs and 91-90 advantage in hits. Zach Reks leads OKC with 12 hits and 12 RBI, including three homers and seven walks, while Edwin RÃ-os has five homers and 10 RBI...During their last visit to Memphis, OKC swept a four-game series May 30-June 2 at AutoZone Park. The Dodgers outscored the Redbirds, 32-13, and held Memphis to a .192 average. It marked just the second time ever OKC swept a series in Memphis...Last season the teams met in the American Conference Finals, with Memphis winning the series, 3-1, before repeating as PCL champions...The Redbirds won the 2018 regular-season series, 10-6, snapping a streak of five consecutive season series victories for OKC. It was just the third time that Memphis won at least 10 games in one season against OKC, last accomplished in 2011 (11).
Luxury Tax: Gavin Lux racked up a game-high and season-high four RBI last night, finishing 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, marking his first four RBI game since May 25, 2018 with High-A Rancho Cucamonga...Lux is batting .500 (17x34) since joining OKC June 27, as he has hit safely in each of his first eight Triple-A games. He's tallied four multi-hit games, eight extra-base hits, eight RBI and 12 runs scored...The 21-year-old leads Dodgers full-season minor leaguers with a .334 AVG and is tied for first with 98 hits along with Miguel Vargas of High-A Rancho Cucamonga.
Go DJ, That's My DJ: DJ Peters tallied a game-high three hits, including a double, and scored twice Thursday. He's reached base in each of his first 13 Triple-A games and is slashing .370/.475/.717 during his time with OKC...Peters has hit safely in 10 of his last 12 games, batting .386 (17x44) with nine extra-base hits and 13 RBI.
CoJo's Bite: Connor Joe collected a hit, RBI and run in yesterday's series opener and has now reached base safely in 13 straight games, batting .381 (16x42). He has five homers, four doubles, 15 RBI, 16 runs scored and 15 walks during that time...Since June 27, Joe paces the PCL in runs and walks and ranks sixth in the league with a .532 OBP...He has five homers in his last 12 games after hitting five homers through his first 47 games...Joe leads OKC's qualified players with a .431 OBP (sixth in PCL), and his 52 runs and 48 walks (t-seventh PCL) also both lead the team.
Road Work: Entering today the Dodgers are 13-5 over their last 18 road games and have outscored opponents, 152-104. Over that span, OKC is batting .313 (204x651) with 88 extra-base hits, 35 home runs and is hitting .335 (62x185) with runners in scoring position...Six of the 13 wins have been by at least six runs and OKC has scored 10 or more runs in seven of the 13 victories. They've scored at least seven runs in 13 of the 18 games and have been held to four or fewer runs just three times, never scoring fewer than three runs.
Around the Horn: Edwin RÃ-os has homered in each of his last three games with OKC going back to June 24. He's also gone deep in five of his last eight games and six of his last 10 games...Zach Reks has hit safely in 27 of his last 30 games, batting .341 (44x129) with 13 multi-hit games, nine homers and 33 RBI. Since joining OKC May 16, he ranks third in the PCL with 44 RBI...Last night marked the pitching staff's 42nd double-digit strikeout game of the season. They've now racked up 110 strikeouts in 10 games against the Redbirds this season...The Dodgers have allowed just one home run over the last five games. Since June 1, they've given up the fewest homers in the PCL (40 HR/36 G)...Over his last six appearances, reliever Jaime Schultz has not allowed a run and only three hits over 7.0 innings, with three walks and 12 strikeouts.
