
Oil Kings Select Nine Players in 2019 WHL Bantam Draft

(RED DEER, AB) - The Edmonton Oil Kings announced their newest crop of prospects after making nine selections during the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft on Thursday.
Of those nine selections, five forwards, three defenceman and one goaltender were chosen. Three prospects hail from Alberta (Edmonton, Calgary, Yellowhead), three from British Columbia (Surrey, Abbotsford, Vancouver), two from Saskatchewan (Regina, Lanigan) and one from East Wentachee, Washington, USA.
The first selection of the day for Oil Kings Director of Scouting, Jamie Porter, and President of Hockey Operations and General Manager, Kirt Hill, was centre Caleb Reimer from Delta Hockey Academy Bantam Prep Green with the 18th overall pick.
Round 1; 18 - Caleb Reimer (C) - Delta HA Bntm Prep Green (10/9/2004)
The 6'2", 180 pound native of Surrey, BC registered 18 goals and 27 assists in 30 games played as a member of Delta Hockey Academy during the 2018-19 campaign before adding two goals and an assist in two playoff contests.
"Caleb is a big forward with a lot of upside and someone we're excited is joining our group," said Edmonton Oil Kings Director of Scouting, Jamie Porter. "Caleb possesses excellent puck skills and is a highly coveted power forward for our future."
Round 2; 40 - Ross Stanley (D) - OHA Edmonton Bntm Prep (01/06/2004)
The 5'10", 150 pound rearguard from Yellowhead, AB skated as a member of the OHA Edmonton Bantam Prep during the 2018-19 season, tallying four goals and 17 assists for 21 points in 29 games, followed by a goal and an assist in four playoff games.
He was the captain of his CIHA Voyageurs Bantam AAA (OEBHL) during the 2017-18 campaign.
Round 3; 62 - Kolby Hay (G) - Yale Hockey Academy (05/14/2004)
The 6'2", 166 pound Abbotsford, BC native was the third round selection of the Oil Kings and the fourth goaltender chosen in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft.
In 20 regular season games with Yale Hockey Academy, he earned an 11-8 record with one shutout, along with a 2.89 goals against average and .891 save percentage. He backstopped Yale to a CSSHL championship, going 4-1 in the playoffs with a 2.33 goals against average and .923 save percentage.
Round 4; 73 (from Seattle) - William Yee (D) - St. George's School Bntm Prep (04/11/2004)
William Yee was the second defenceman taken by the Oil Kings on Thursday. The 5'11", 170 pound Vancouverite registered 11 goals and 17 assists in 30 games for St. George's School Bantam Prep this season, along with an assist in three CSSHL playoff games.
He earned a CSSHL championship in 2017-18 with the Club, notching 19 goals and 30 assists for 49 points in 30 regular season games, as well as seven points (3G, 4A) in seven playoff contests.
Round 6; 126 (from Moose Jaw) - Eric Johnston (D) - Regina Pat Blues (02/18/2004)
Johnston was a member of the Regina Pat Blues Bantam AA during the 2018-19 season where he amassed 14 goals and 40 assists for 54 points in 31 regular season games. The 5'9", 154 pound Regina, SK native dressed in 11 playoff games, tallying five goals and four assists for nine points from the blueline.
Round 6; 128 - Shea Van Olm (RW) - Calgary Flames BAAA (05/04/2004)
A product of the Calgary Flames Bantam AAA program, the 5'9", 150 pound right winger from Calgary potted 20 goals and 34 points in 27 regular season games, along with 110 penalty minutes. In five playoff games he added one goal and three assists before joining the NWCAA Stampeders Minor Midget for five games during the regular season and playoffs.
Round 7; 150 - Kylynn Olafson (F) - Humboldt Broncos BAA (02/11/2004)
The Lanigan, SK native dressed for the Humboldt Broncos Bantam AA during the 2018-19 season, registering 17 goals and 19 assists for 36 points in 26 regular season games. The 5'6.5", 132 pound forward also suited up for the Humboldt Broncos Midget AA (CHFL) for eight games, notching a goal and an assist.
Round 9; 194 - Flynn Maxcy (C) - Edmonton MLAC Bantam AAA (11/21/2004)
Edmonton native Flynn Maxcy skated in 31 regular season games for MLAC this season, picking up 17 goals and 16 assists for 33 points along with 51 penalty minutes. Tipping the scales at 5'9" and 150 pounds, he also dressed in six games for the MLAC Midget AAA squad this season.
Round 10; 199 - Cade Littler (F) - San Jose Sharks Bantam AAA (07/12/2004)
The Oil Kings final selection of the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft hails from East Wenatchee, WA. In a shortened season with the San Jose Jr. Sharks Bantam AAA he potted eight goals and four assists for nine points in eight games.
