Kamloops Blazers Select Nine Players in 2019 WHL Bantam Draft

Red Deer, AB - The Kamloops Blazers selected nine players in the 2019 WHL Bantam held in Red Deer, AB on May 2, 2019.

For the first time in franchise history, the Blazers selected two players in the first round of the WHL Bantam Draft. The Blazers chose defenseman Mats Lindgren with the 7th overall pick and forward Connor Levis with the 20th overall pick.

The Blazers selected goaltender Dylan Ernst in the second round, 28th overall. Ernst was the first goaltender to be chosen in the WHL Bantam Draft.

The hockey club went with forwards with their next three picks. Tye Spencer from Saskatoon was selected in the third round and Fraser Mitten along with Cameron Johnson were chosen in the fourth round.

In the fifth round, the Blazers selected defenseman Jamie Weller from Calgary.

With the Blazers final two picks, they selected Vaughn Watterodt in the sixth round and Noah Bamford in the seventh round.

In total, the Blazers selected six forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender. By region, the hockey club chose five players from B.C., two from Alberta and two from Saskatchewan.
