PRINCE GEORGE, BC- The Prince George Cougars Hockey Club announced today that they have acquired 2003-born forward Fischer O'Brien from the Lethbridge Hurricanes in exchange for 2002-born defenceman Tyson Phare.

O'Brien is a Prince George, B.C. native and played this past season with the Cariboo Cougars in the B.C. Major Midget League (BCMML). The 16-year-old collected two goals and five assists for seven points in 40 games, as he helped the Cougars capture the BCMML championship. O'Brien is the younger brother of former Prince George Cougar Brogan O'Brien.

"We're thrilled to add a player that comes from a great family that has strong ties to the organization and community," said General Manager Mark Lamb. "His brother enjoyed a very successful career in Prince George, and we're excited to have Fischer now join the fold."

O'Brien was originally selected by the Hurricanes in the fifth round, 98th overall, in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.
