Calgary Hitmen News Release

Edmonton, AB - Rookie Slovak import Jakub Demek netted a pair of goals including the eventual game winner on the power play to lift the Edmonton Oil Kings past the Calgary Hitmen 3-2 on Saturday night at Rogers Place.

Josh Williams also scored for the Oil Kings who earned a split in the weekend home-and-home set following Calgary's 6-5 victory on Friday night.

Edmonton never trailed, building leads of 1-0 and 3-1 with the Hitmen receiving their markers from Zak Funk and Cael Zimmerman. Zimmerman's tally pulled the visitors to within a goal with just over 10 minutes remaining in regulation but they were unable to find the equalizer.

The two teams combined for 71 shots with the Oil Kings notching 40 to Calgary's 31.

With the victory Edmonton improves to 9-3-1-1 while the Hitmen drop to 5-6.

Calgary is now idle until a busy three game weekend opens Friday, Nov. 12 in Swift Current. It's followed by a Saturday, Nov. 13 visit to Medicine Hat before culminating back in Calgary on Sunday, Nov. 14 in a rematch with the Tigers.

The 4:00 p.m. start will be another Sunday Funday at Scotiabank Saddledome featuring "Farley's Family Feast" with special $2 prices for cotton candy, water, pop, hot dogs and popcorn. There are also select $5 menu items as well.
