Rivalry Returns as Blades Host Raiders in Western Country Night
November 6, 2021 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release
One of the most heated rivalries in the Western Hockey League returns to SaskTel Centre for the first time since February 28, 2020 as the Saskatoon Blades play host to the Prince Albert Raiders.
This is the second half of a home-and-home between these two East Division rivals, following up Friday night's 5-1 victory for the Raiders at the Art Hauser Centre.
Friday's contest saw the Raiders throw five unanswered goals on the board, including three in the third period to earn a second victory in three games.
The Blades head into the night winners of seven of the last ten and will try to avoid dropping a second straight game for the first time this season.
Country Western Night
We're throwing on our wranglers for Country Western Night tonight as we welcome the Prince Albert Raiders into our barn. Bring your cowboy boots, flannel shirts and saddle up for a wild ride featuring the most chaotic rivalry in the WHL!
Who to Watch
Veteran forward Jayden Wiens notched the lone goal for the Blades in Friday night's loss, which opened the scoring early in the first period. The Carrot River, SK product has points in five of the last six games, including a two-goal night in Lethbridge last weekend.
San Jose Sharks prospect Tristen Robins continues to lead the WHL in scoring with 22 points and assists with 15, despite being held off the scoresheet for just the second time on Friday. The pending WHL graduate is the reigning Player of the Month for October, and also led the Blades in scoring vs. the Raiders last season with nine points (2G-7A) in three games.
Alternate captain Kyle Crnkovic sits tied for second in goals scored (10) this season, trailing only Connor McClennon of the Winnipeg ICE with 11. The 2002-born winger has points in 12 of 13 games this season - five of which multi-point performances.
