Prince Albert Raiders News Release

Saskatoon, Sask. - Sloan Stanick recorded a hat trick as the Prince Albert Raiders (5-7-0-1) defeated the Saskatoon Blades (9-4-1-0) 5-2 at SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon on Saturday night.

It was the first career WHL hat trick for Stanick, who also had an assist in the game to register a career-high four-point outing. His previous best was a three-point night as a member of the Regina Pats earlier this season.

Tyson Laventure also scored twice and added an assist in the win for the Raiders; Kaiden Guhle had a trio of helpers as well.

The win gave the Raiders a sweep of the weekend home-and-home series with the Saskatoon Blades. The Raiders have also won three straight contests.

Carter Serhyenko had a strong opening period for the Raiders. Two of his more notable saves in the frame came on a Trevor Wong breakaway attempt and a sprawling save on a cross-zone pass to Brandon Lisowsky.

The Raiders got the scoring started with 1:53 remaining in the first period. Reece Vitelli's breakout pass set up a two-on-one rush for Stanick and Laventure. Stanick decided to keep and wired a shot that beat Ethan Chadwick high on the glove side for his first as a Raider.

Stanick struck again 50 seconds into the middle frame. Landon Kosior's stretch pass sent the Rapid City, Man. product in on a breakaway. Aidan De La Gorgendiere was forced to hook the Raiders winger, giving him a penalty shot. On his penalty shot attempt, Stanick moved in deliberately and beat Chadwick through the five hole to make it a 2-0 game.

Midway through the second, the Raiders added to their lead with a power-play goal. After Guhle's shot went wide, Ozzy Wiesblatt collected the puck on the right wing. He fired a pass across the zone to Laventure who hammered a one-timer past Chadwick to put the Raiders up 3-0 with 7:35 left in second. The goal chased Chadwick from the game for Nolan Maier.

Laventure added his second of the game with 2:33 remaining in the middle frame. Guhle pinched to keep the puck in the corner and sent it behind the net to Stanick. He found Laventure alone in front of the net and the Lloydminster, Alta. product's quick release beat Maier to give the Raiders a 4-0 lead after two periods.

The Blades broke Serhyenko's shutout attempt 3:13 into the third period. Egor Sidorov took a stretch pass from Ben Saunderson at the Raiders' blueline to send him on a breakaway. Sidorov made a move from his backhand to his forehand and tucked the puck past Serhyenko's poke check to make it 4-1.

Late in the third, the Raiders added an insurance goal on the power play. After a faceoff win in the offensive zone, Guhle passed to Laventure on the left wing. Laventure put a low, hard pass towards goal that Stanick tipped home from the top of the crease to complete his hat trick.

Saskatoon added a late goal on the power play when Tristen Robins beat Serhyenko from the left wing to round out the scoring at 5-2.

Serhyenko finished the game with 24 saves to pick up his third consecutive win. Chadwick stopped nine shots before being pulled midway through the second period; Maier made 18 saves in relief.

The Raiders return to the Art Hauser Centre on Wednesday night to take on the Edmonton Oil Kings for the first time in 657 days. Game time is 7 p.m.

Wednesday night is the first game under the new Community Cares Fundraising Program. By purchasing a ticket to Wednesday's game at SaskTix.ca, $5 from your purchase will be donated to a local organization when using the appropriate promo code. Visit raiderhockey.com for more information.
