Blades Fall 5-1 to Open Home-And-Home against Raiders

Saskatoon Blades News Release
PRINCE ALBERT, SK - Jayden Wiens scored the only goal for the Saskatoon Blades as the Prince Albert Raiders snuck away with a 5-1 victory at the Art Hauser Centre on Friday night.
Saskatoon will look to rebound on home ice on Saturday, hosting their closest rivals to close out a home-and-home series.
Nolan Maier took the loss with 30 saves - only the second loss in his last seven starts. The Blades will have to wait for at least one more game to earn their tenth victory of the season, falling to 9-3-1-0.
Reece Vitelli and Ozzy Wiesblatt led the scoring charge for the now 4-7-0-1 Raiders with a goal and an assist each. Nolan Allan, Landon Kosior, and Terrell Goldsmith also found the scoresheet, while Carter Serhyenko made 24 saves for the win.
Carrot River's Jayden Wiens opened the scoring 4:40 into the contest. A quick passing play began with Moritz Elias chopping the puck behind the net to Brendan Lee, who one-touched a pass to Wiens in front. The veteran center slid the puck through the wickets of Serhyenko for his third goal of the season.
But Prince Albert provided the answer roughly six minutes later.
Tyson Laventure sent a lead pass to Vitelli through the middle and beat Maier to the glove side on a breakaway, tying the game 1-1.
Saskatoon was held scoreless on four powerplay opportunities in the first period alone, and trailed the shot-clock 12-10 after 20.
Prince Albert took its first lead of the game on a powerplay opportunity midway through the second frame. Nolan Allan's point shot slipped through a mess of bodies and found its way beyond Maier.
Late in the second, the Raiders added another powerplay marker. Or so they thought.
Saskatoon quickly responded with an off-side challenge. After a lengthy delay, it was deemed no goal.
After 40, Prince Albert held a 25-20 shot advantage to compliment their 2-1 lead.
No challenge was necessary for Landon Kosior's second of the season, extending the Raiders lead to 3-1 with 13 minutes to play.
Saskatoon battled in the final 10 minutes of play, but Serhyenko turned aside several key opportunities late in the game.
After a 30 second timeout, the Blades pulled Maier for the extra attacker, but Ozzy Wiesblatt iced any hope for a comeback with an empty netter. Terrell Goldsmith added one more with just over a minute to play, rounding out a 5-1 score for the home-ice Raiders.
A quick turnaround for both teams, with the home-and-home series wrapping up in Saskatoon at 7:00pm from SaskTel Centre on Saturday.
