
Hitmen Hold off Oil Kings 6-5

Calgary, AB- It was a high scoring and physical game between the Calgary Hitmen and The Edmonton Oil Kings Friday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome. The Hitmen came out victorious, defeating the Oil Kings 6-5.
The Hitmen opened up the scoring with a goal from Oliver Tulk, which was his first WHL goal. He was followed up with a goal by Riley Fiddler-Schultz 11:55 into the first. The Oil Kings cracked the score board at 13:30 with Jakub Demek finding the back of the net.
The second period started with a major-boarding call and a misconduct that resulted in Jackson van de Leest being ejected from the game.
Allan capitalized on a breakaway unassisted to make the score 3-1. The goal was quickly followed up by a shorthanded goal from Cael Zimmerman, his first of the season. Maxim Muranov was the second Hitmen player to be ejected from the game for a hit to the head 6:39 into the second. Dylan Guenther capitalized on the Muranov penalty, making the score 4-2.
Fiddler-Schultz netted his second of the night to make the score 5-2 and less than three minutes later secured the hat trick, putting the Hitmen up by four goals. This was Fiddler-Schultz's first career hat trick. Dawson Seitz finished out the period scoring, netting the Oil Kings third goal. The score was 6-3 through forty minutes of play.
The Oil Kings mounted their come back in the third period with goals from Carson Golder and Luke Prokop, 4:44 and 7:25 into the period. The game went down to the wire but the Hitmen held on to the one goal lead to finish out the game with a victory.
The first star of the game was Riley Fiddler-Schultz, followed by Oil Kings defenceman Luke Prokop and the third star from the Hitmen, Tyson Galloway.
The Hitmen play the back half of this home-and-home set with Edmonton tomorrow, Saturday, November 6 up at Rogers Place. Game time is 7:00 p.m. It will also be the start of three straight on the road for Calgary with additional stops in Swift Current (Nov. 12) and Medicine Hat (Nov. 13) before hosting the Tigers on Sunday, Nov. 14. The 4:00 p.m. start will be another Sunday, Funday at the 'Dome featuring special $2 prices for cotton candy, water, pop, hot dogs and popcorn.
