Morin Shares PaySource USA ECHL Plus Performer Award

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays, ECHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, announced today that Travis Morin has been named one of the PaySource USA ECHL Plus Performers of the Month for October after finishing with a plus-minus rating of +7.

Selected in the ninth round (263rd overall) by Washington in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft and under contract to the Capitals, the 6-foot-2 and 195-pound Morin was even or better in all eight games he played for the Stingrays in October, including +4 on Oct. 31, and led the team with six goals.

Morin, 23, currently is tied for the ECHL rookie lead with eight goals and is third with 13 points. He also leads the Stingrays with his eight goals and is ranked second in points behind Paul McIlveen.

The first-year pro was recently called-up to the Hershey Bears where he played two games without recording a point. Morin returned to the Rays yesterday afternoon and will be in the line-up on Friday night against the Gwinnet Gladiators.
