Royals' Blight Named In Glas Co Player Of The Week

Chris Blight of the Reading Royals is the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for Nov. 5-11.

The 25 year old had six goals and eight points to help Reading go 3-1-0 and move into first place in the North Division.

After a pair of goals and an assist in a 4-2 win against Bakersfield on Nov. 7, the 6-foot and 200-pound right wing scored a career-high four goals and tied his career best with five points in a 6-2 win at Johnstown on Nov. 10. Blight closed out the week scoring the decisive goal in the shootout as the Royals beat Dayton 3-2 to extend their home winning streak to three games.

In his first season with Reading, the Cambridge, Ontario native leads the Royals with eight goals, four power-play goals and 13 points in 13 games.

Blight had 54 points (26g-28a) and 105 penalty minutes in 71 regular season games and one assist and four penalty minutes in three Kelly Cup Playoff games with Toledo in 2006-07 while also playing one Calder Cup Playoff game with Worcester of the American Hockey League.

In his rookie season in 2005-06, Blight had 61 points (29g-32a) and 52 penalty minutes in 65 regular season games to help Toledo finish first in its division and 12 points (4g-8a) and 18 penalty minutes in 13 games in the Kelly Cup Playoffs as the Storm reached the conference finals.

He played four seasons at Clarkson University and had 96 points (40g-56a) in 144 games from 2001-05.

On behalf of Chris Blight, a case of pucks will be donated to a Reading area youth hockey organization by In Glas Co, the exclusive puck supplier for the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, In Glas Co has donated more than 18,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
