Johnson Named Rbk Hockey Goalie of the Week

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays, ECHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, announced today that rookie goaltender Josh Johnson has been named the Rbk Hockey Goalie of the Week for Nov. 5-11.

Johnson, 23, was 2-0-0 with a 2.40 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage as the Stingrays went 2-0-0 last week to move into third place in the South Division.

On Nov. 7, the 6-foot, 170-pound Johnson made 25 saves and stopped five of six shooters in the shootout for a 3-2 win over the Charlotte Checkers in Charlotte. The Esko, MN native continued his winning streak on Nov. 11 against Mississippi where he turned away 30 shots in the 7-3 victory.

Overall, Johnson is 4-2-0 with a 3.14 goals-against average and a .893 save percentage in six games.

Prior to turning pro, Johnson spent four seasons at the University of Minnesota Duluth where he was 22-20-4 with three shutouts, a 2.71 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage in 51 games.
