Stingrays' Johnson Named Rbk Hockey Goalie Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - South Carolina rookie Josh Johnson is the Rbk Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Nov. 5-11.

The 6-foot and 170-pound Johnson was 2-0-0 with a 2.40 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage as the Stingrays went 2-0-0 to move into third place in the South Division.

The Esko, Minn. native made 25 saves and stopped five of six shooters in the shootout for a 3-2 win at Charlotte on Nov. 7. He extended his winning streak to three games when he turned aside 30 shots in a 7-3 win against Mississippi on Nov. 11.

The 23 year old is 4-2-0 with a 3.14 goals-against average and a .893 save percentage in six games.

Prior to turning professional Johnson spent four seasons at the University of Minnesota Duluth where he was 22-20-4 with three shutouts, a 2.71 goals-against average and a .905 save percentage in 51 games.
