C. Ferraro, Atherton, Morin Named PaySource USA Plus Performers Of The Month

PRINCETON, N.J. - Las Vegas center Chris Ferraro, Reading defenseman P.J. Atherton and South Carolina rookie forward Travis Morin are the PaySource USA ECHL Plus Performers of the Month for October after finishing with a plus-minus rating of +7.

Selected in the fourth round (85th overall) by the New York Rangers in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft, the 5-foot-9 and 175-pound Ferraro was even or better in all five of Las Vegas' games in October, including a season-best +4 on Oct. 21, and tied for the team lead with six points (2g-4a).

Selected in the sixth round (170th overall) by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft and under contract to the Manchester Monarchs in the American Hockey League, the 6-foot-2 and 205-pound Atherton was even or better in all seven of Reading's games in October, including a season-best +4 on Oct. 20.

Selected in the ninth round (263rd overall) by Washington in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft and under contract to the Capitals, the 6-foot-2 and 195-pound Morin was even or better in all eight games he played for the Stingrays in October, including +4 on Oct. 31, and led the team with six goals.

In his 14th professional season, the 34-year-old Ferraro is tied for second on the Wranglers with 10 points (3g-7a) in nine games. He played six seasons in the NHL and has 16 points (7g-9a) and 57 penalty minutes in 74 games with the New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Edmonton Oilers, New York Islanders and Washington Capitals.

In his second professional season, the 25-year-old Atherton is tied for seventh among ECHL defensemen with eight points (3g-5a) in 13 games. He played for Johnstown as a rookie in 2006-07 and had 29 points (5g-24a) in 57 games while also playing in the AHL where he had two points (1g-1a) in seven games for Springfield.

In his first professional season, the 23-year-old Morin is currently called up to Hershey of the AHL where he has appeared in two games. He is tied for the ECHL rookie lead with eight goals and ranks third with 13 points in nine games.
