Manchester Monarchs News Release
MANCHESTER, NH - The Manchester Monarchs, the primary affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings, in partnership with Rock 101/AM-610 WGIR and the Monarchs Care Foundation paid tribute to Manchester's fallen Police Officer Michael Briggs and raised $55,463 for his family during the team's American Pride Night on Saturday, November 4.
Funds were raised through a number of different efforts including a game-worn jersey auction at Saturday's game, an online auction/donation collection through Rock 101/AM-610 WGIR and the Monarchs Chuck-A-Puck sales from Saturday. The jerseys that the team wore included a Manchester Police Department patch on the left chest with Officer Briggs' badge number on a shield below the patch and his name on a ribbon above the patch. The top selling jersey belonged to right wing John Zeiler and went for $3,600.
"Monarchs fans and the city of Manchester answered the call," said Monarchs President Jeff Eisenberg. "Their generosity will go a long way in helping the Briggs family and we thank everyone involved for their contribution to the success of this effort."
Officer Briggs was killed in the line of duty on October 17, 2006.
The Monarchs welcome the San Antonio Rampage and former teammates left wing Ryan Flinn and center Yanick Lehoux on Wednesday, November 8 at 7:05 p.m. Catch all of the play-by-play action of Monarchs hockey with Ken Cail on the Monarchs Radio Network WGIR-AM 610 and at www.monarchshockey.com.
