The Stars and the Houston Aeros meet for the fourth time overall and the third time on Wells Fargo Arena ice. Iowa claimed a 6-3 win in Texas on October 8th, and then a 3-1 win and a 4-3 win on October 12th and 14th, respectively. Iowa was 3-7 against Houston last season--- The Aeros are 4-7-0-1 this season--- Houston has been outscored this season 36 to 32, while Iowa has outscored their opponents, 47 to 33--- a recent surge has seen the Aeros move up to sixth place with a 86.2% success rate on the penalty-kill. Their power-play on the other hand is a different story. Currently they rank 26th in the 27 team AHL. They have just nine power-play goals in 87 opportunities, a success rate of just 10.3%--- Right Wing Matt Foy leads the Aeros with 10 points, via four goals and six assists through 10 games: 10(4/6/10). Rookies Danny Irmen (7 points) and Benoit Pouliot (6 points) are second and third, respectively--- Though no longer on the team, Jason Morgan still paces Houston with 20 PIM's--- The Aeros do not play before arriving in Des Moines--- Thursday's game is a 4 for $40 night. The Stars host the Aeros for a second consecutive game. Friday's game is Military Appreciation night and Operation First Response! STAR DUST:

- Right Wing Junior Lessard is third in the AHL with 17 total points. Through the season's first 12 games, he has eight goals and nine assists: 12(8/9/17).

- The Stars have scored four shorthanded goals in their first 11 games. It took them 26 games last season to reach that mark.

- The Stars nominated Goaltender Tobias Stephan for the CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week. The Swiss-born netminder won his only start this week, posting a 24-save shutout performance in Omaha against the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights. He did not allow a powerplay goal in Iowa's six man-down situations. The shutout win improved his record to 3-1, while his Goals Against Average dropped to 1.51 and his Save Percentage improved to .941%.

- Goaltender Dan Ellis is tied for first in the AHL with six wins.

- Defenseman Nicklas Grossman is tied for second in the AHL with a 'plus 10' rating.

NOTES: The Iowa Stars traveled to Milwaukee to face the Admirals for the first time since Game Seven of the West Division Semifinals last April. Joel Lundqvist made the long post-game bus trip to Omaha a bit more enjoyable when he potted his fifth goal of the season to give Iowa a 3-2 overtime victory on Friday night. Iowa moved to 8-2 on the young season. Goaltender Dan Ellis faced 28 shots in the win, improving his record to 6-1 on the season. It was only the third time this season Iowa did not score the first goal of the game. Mike Green finished with two assists.

NOTES: The Iowa Stars and the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights met for the third time in 10 days on Saturday night in Omaha. Turning in his best performance of the season, Iowa Goalie Tobias Stephan propelled Iowa to a 3-0 shutout win with 24 saves. Iowa improved their record to 9-2 and moved into first place in the West Division. Mike Green pushed his points-streak to three games with a first period goal. All three of Iowa's goals came via special teams: two PPG and one SHG. Loui Eriksson's shorthanded goal was Iowa's fourth such goal this season. It took Iowa 26 games last season to reach that mark. Iowa has also scored at least one power-play goal in nine of their first 11 games. The Stars improved to 5- 1 on the road moving their road-winning streak to three games.

NOTES: Iowa made their first trip of the season to Peoria to play the Rivermen on Sunday afternoon. Iowa was unable to maintain their recent momentum, losing 4-1. Goaltender Dan Ellis suffered just his second loss of the season. He is now 6-2 this season. Rookie Defenseman Jared Nightingale scored the lone goal for Iowa. It was just the third time this season the Stars did not have a power-play goal. Sunday's game concluded a three-games-in-three-days road trip that saw them play in Milwaukee on Friday, in Omaha on Saturday and in Peoria on Sunday for a rough total of 1600 miles traveled.
