Albany River Rats News Release


The Albany River Rats begin a four-game road trip Thursday, November 9 at Milwaukee. News and notes heading into this week's action:

- C Keith Aucoin is the River Rats nomination for CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending November 5, 2006. The River Rats captain had six points in two games last week, recording back-to-back three-point games November 3 at Philadelphia (one goal, two assists) and November 4 vs. Providence (one goal, two assists). Aucoin leads Albany in points (nine) and is tied for first on the club in goals (four) and assists. The Waltham, Mass., native's goal November 4 vs. Providence represented his 300th career AHL point (103 goals, 197 assists).

- D Kyle Cumiskey recorded his first professional goal with a power-play tally and added an assist for his first multiple-point game November 4 vs. Providence.

- C Ben Guite is two games shy of 400 games played in the AHL.

THIS WEEK'S GAME PREVIEWS:

Thursday, November 9 at Milwaukee Admirals, Bradley Center, 8 p.m.

The River Rats and Milwaukee Admirals meet for the first time since Milwaukee joined the AHL in 2001. The teams complete the two-game season series December 1 at Pepsi Arena. Milwaukee enters the week having played just six games, the fewest in the AHL, and with a 1-3-1-0 home record. RW Alexander Radulov, the 15th overall pick by Nashville in 2004, leads the Admirals in scoring with seven points (3-4-7) in three games. NHL Affiliate: Nashville Predators.

Friday, November 10 at Peoria Rivermen, Carver Arena, 8:30 p.m.

The River Rats and Peoria Rivermen complete a two-game season series. Albany defeated Peoria 3-2 in a shootout October 18 at Pepsi Arena in the first meeting. C Trent Whitfield (6-8-14) and LW Jon DiSalvatore (4-5-9) lead the Rivermen in scoring. G Marek Schwarz (4-1-0, 2.81 GAA, .902 SPCT) was the 17th overall pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by St. Louis. NHL Affiliate: St. Louis Blues.

Saturday, November 11 at Grand Rapids Griffins, Van Andel Arena, 7 p.m.

The River Rats and Grand Rapids Griffins meet for the first time since Grand Rapids joined the AHL in 2001. The teams complete the two-game season series January 6 at Pepsi Arena. C Kip Miller, a veteran of 449 NHL games with Quebec, Minnesota (North Stars), San Jose, New York (Islanders), Chicago, Pittsburgh, Anaheim and Washington, leads the Griffins in scoring with 13 points (5-8-13). G Jimmy Howard (5-2-0, 2.39 GAA, .918 SPCT) was Detroit's first choice, 64th overall, in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. NHL Affiliate: Detroit Red Wings.
