Manchester Monarchs News Release
MANCHESTER, NH - Defenseman Kevin Dallman had four assists while right wing Vladimir Dravecky added two goals including the game winner as the Manchester Monarchs topped the Milwaukee Admirals 5-4 in front of 5,287 fans at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Monday night.
Manchester (23-20-4-2) moves back into fourth place in the Atlantic Division with 52 points. Milwaukee (25-19-2-2) is in fifth place in the West Division with 54 points.
Dravecky scored his second goal of the night and put the Monarchs ahead for good at 6:08 in the third period. The speedy right wing came up the right side after a nifty pass from center David Meckler. Dravecky sent the disk into the top left corner of the goal and the Monarchs into the locker room with the win. Dallman earned his fourth assist on the night with the final goal.
The Monarchs lit the lamp first as Dravecky tallied his second goal of the season at 10:31 of the opening period. Defenseman Patrik Hersley set up the offense behind his own net when center Trevor Lewis took the puck and sprinted up the right side of the ice. A fast moving Lewis found Dravecky positioned directly in front of Admirals netminder Pekka Rinne. Dravecky one-timed the biscuit into the basket giving the Monarchs the 1-0 lead.
The Admirals evened the score at 3:45 in the second frame on a power play goal. Defenseman Janne Niskala fired a shot to the right side of goaltender Dan Cloutier. The Monarchs netminder stopped the puck but allowed a rebound to his left where right wing Josh Langfield was ready to slam it home. Center Cal O'Reilly picked up his 37th assist on the evening score.
Not more than two minutes later, right wing John Zeiler quickly answered with a power play goal of his own. Dallman fired a slap shot from the blueline at 5:29 of the second period. Zeiler was able to get his stick on the puck while positioned in front of the net. Right wing Lauri Tukonen picked up his 12th assist on the year as the Monarchs took the lead.
A blistering one-timer from defenseman Cody Franson evened the score once again at 8:43 in the second period. Defenseman Paul Crosty attempted to clear the puck from the Monarchs zone but Franson was ready. The two assists were given to defenseman Alexander Sulzer and left wing John Laliberte.
With six seconds left on the power play, Franson tallied his second goal of the night 17:30 of the middle frame. A slap shot from the middle of the zone found the stitches low and to the blocker side of Cloutier. The power play goal was the Admirals second of the night as center Matt Ellison picked up an assist alongside left wing John Vigilante.
Right wing Teddy Purcell joined in on the fun when he scored his 16th goal of the campaign. Dallman found Purcell at 19:05 in the second period. The one-timer from Purcell's stick went over the glove of Rinne and into the back of the net. Center Gabe Gauthier earned his first of two points on the night and his 29th assist of the year.
Dallman threw a shot on net at the 3:30 mark in the third period. The rebound ricocheted to the right of the net and Gauthier fired a bad angle shot that found its way over the goal line. Gauthier's tallied his 17th goal of the season that beat the netminder on his right side on the power play. Purcell was also credited with an assist on the play.
The Admirals tried to stage a comeback with 13:37 left in the final frame. Center Mike Santorelli ripped a shot from the right circle. After receiving the puck from right wing Andre Thuresson, Santorelli crossed into the Monarchs zone. The center blasted a shot that got past Cloutier and put the Admirals within one of the Monarchs.
Cloutier (4-9-0) earned the win stopping 20 out of 24 shots that came his way. Rinne saved 28-of-33 shots that he faced, taking the loss and making him (23-17-2)
The Monarchs went 2-for-8 on the power play on their way to a victory while Milwaukee was 2-for-6 in the loss.
