Coyotes Re-Assign Carcillo To San Antonio, Murley Recalled

SAN ANTONIO (February 4, 2008) - The Phoenix Coyotes today re-assigned left wing Daniel Carcillo to the San Antonio Rampage, and recalled left wing Matt Murley from the Coyotes' top affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Carcillo, 22, scored a goal and an assist in two games with the Rampage earlier this season. The King City, Ontario native also has recorded 12 points (five goals, seven assists) a league-leading 204 penalty minutes (PIM) in 36 games with the Coyotes this season. He missed 16 games from Dec. 22 to Jan. 24 due to a knee injury.

Originally drafted by Pittsburgh in the third round (73rd overall) of the 2003 Entry Draft, the 5-foot-11, 203-pound Carcillo spent two seasons with Wilkes-Barre (AHL), recording 54 points (32g, 22a) and 494 PIM in 103 games. In 54 career NHL games with the Coyotes, he has recorded 19 points (9g, 10a) and 278 PIM.

The 28-year-old Murley leaves the Rampage leading the team with 38 points and 27 assists in 48 games this season with San Antonio.

The Troy, New York native signed with the Coyotes as a free agent on July 20, 2007. He appeared in 61 games for Albany (AHL) last season, collecting 55 points (23g, 32a) and 18 PIM to rank second on the team in both points and assists.

In 59 career NHL games with Pittsburgh, he has recorded eight points (2g, 6a) and 38 PIM. He has registered 228 points (82g, 146a) and 207 PIM in 325 career AHL games with Wilkes-Barre, Albany and San Antonio. In 2004, he scored two goals and added in assist for PlanetUSA in the AHL All-Star Game. The 6-foot-1, 206-pound Murley was originally drafted by Pittsburgh in the second round (51st overall) of the 1999 Entry Draft.

Murley played his collegiate hockey at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), where he graduated as the school's 11th all-time leading scorer with 74-101-175 in 137 career games.
