Worcester Sharks News Release
WORCESTER - Worcester Sharks President and CEO Michael T. Lehr announced today that the "Be A Leader" program will visit West Street Elementary School on Tuesday, February 5, at 1:30 p.m. in front of over 400 children.
Announced in late September by the Worcester Sharks and the Law Firm of Abigail Williams and Associates, the "Be A Leader" program is designed to provide students between the grades of 4-6 with leadership tips to enrich their lives as well as others around them. Sharks Defenseman Dan Spang and the Sharks Mascot Finz will be present at the school assemblies along with the principle of the Law Firm of Abigail Williams and Associates, Abby Williams.
Spang, a Winchester native and a Boston University graduate will take the lead at the assembly with the overall topic focused on injury prevention.
"The kids have a lot of fun during the assembly," said Director of Community Relations Michael Myers. "It's not every day that a professional athlete and a mascot visit a child's school. It's a fun way to help guide students to make the right decision in every day life."
This exceptional "Be A Leader" program will continue to make school appearances throughout the months of February through March. The program gathers students in a large assembly format where Dan Spang, Sharks staff, and community leaders will speak to students about leadership qualities and ways to better one's life.
Each participant in the program receives one ticket to an upcoming 2007-08 regular season Sharks home game, a Dan Spang autographed tip card and a "Be A Leader" promotional item compliments of the Law Firm of Abigail Williams and Associates.
"My entire staff has really enjoyed being part of this great program," said Abby Williams, principal of the Law Firm of Abigail Williams and Associates. "I am excited about the opportunity to share my experiences with children and look forward for the "Be A Leader" program to continue its efforts throughout central Massachusetts."

The Sharks return to the DCU Center on Friday, Feb. 22, for a 3-in-3 weekend, with all three games on home ice. Friday's match up features Lowell, with Portland skating into town on Saturday and the Springfield Falcons wrapping up the weekend with an 8:05pm start on Sunday the 24th.
