Adirondack Phantoms News Release

UPCOMING OPPONENTS

Wednesday, February 6: Phantoms at Binghamton Senators - The Phantoms and the Senators (Ottawa Senators) will meet in the sixth of eight appointments this season. On Saturday night, the Phantoms had a dozen players contributing at least one point in a 5-1 victory. Darroll Powe, Pete Zingoni and Frederik Cabana each contributed a goal and an assist for the Phantoms. Scott Munroe was strong in net, stopping 33 of 34 shots. The Phantoms lead the season series 4-1 and have outscored the Senators 25-13 in the five games.

Friday, February 8: Phantoms at Springfield Falcons - The Phantoms play a weekend of return engagements against Atlantic Division teams who have already visited Philadelphia this year, starting out in Springfield against the Falcons (Edmonton Oilers). In their first game back in October, the Phantoms beat the Falcons 4-3 at the Wachovia Spectrum. In that game, Jared Ross contributed a natural hat trick, only the fifth in team history, while Pete Zingoni accounted for the fourth goal. The Falcons are currently 4th in the Atlantic Division with a record of 21-19-4-5, for 51 points. Marc Pouliot is the team's leading goal scorer with 13 goals on the season.

Saturday, February 9 - Phantoms at Manchester Monarchs: The Phantoms and the Monarchs (Los Angeles Kings) got together last month at the Spectrum, with the Monarchs taking away a 6-2 victory. Teddy Purcell had a goal and three assists in that contest. Triston Grant and Alexandre Picard scored the only two goals in that game for the Phantoms, while Brian Boucher absorbed the loss in net. The Monarchs are currently 5th in the Atlantic Division with a record of 22-20-4-2 for 50 points. On Wednesday, Monarchs GM Ron Hextall will be inducted into the Philadelphia Flyers Hall of Fame at the Wachovia Center.

Sunday, February 10 - Phantoms at Providence Bruins: In the previous match up this season, the Bruins (Boston Bruins) were victorious by a score of 6-3. The loss was the first of the season for the Phantoms after they started out 5-0. In that game, Vladimir Sobotka scored two goals and received first star honors. The Bruins are leading the American Hockey League and have kept up a torrid pace all season, currently holding a record of 36-8-2-1 for 75 points. Pascal Pellitier leads his team and is tied for the league lead in goals scored with 25.

PHANTOMS RESET

The Phantoms are 31-15-1-2 for 65 points through 49 games. Rankings are as follows:

East Division - 1st, nine points ahead of Hershey, WBS and Albany, all tied

Eastern Conference - T2nd with Hartford, behind Providence

AHL - T-5th

Comparisons to past years through 49 games:

2007-08: 31-15-1-2, 65 points

2004-05: 27-16-2-4, 60 points

1997-98: 31-11-1-6, 69 points

1996-97: 31-10-2-6, 70 points

Note: The 2004-05 and 1997-98 teams won Calder Cups; the 1996-97 team had the best regular-season record in team history.

2004-05 and later are W-L-OTL-SOL. 1996-97 and 1997-98 are W-L-T-OTL.

The Phantoms are continuing a march towards what could be a historic season. Here are some highlights relating to past years:

* Philadelphia's 31 wins through 49 games ties a franchise record for most wins to that point of a season. The Phantoms have done it twice before, in 1996-97 and 1997-98.

* The Phantoms finished the 2006-07 season with a record of 31-41-2-6. The Phantoms matched that 31-win total with their victory at Binghamton on Saturday, doing so just 49 games into the season. The Phantoms are currently 24 points ahead of last year's pace.

* The Phantoms are five points away from equaling last year's point total of 70. Last year's team did not reach 65 points until March 31.

ORGANIZATIONAL SUCCESS

Heading into this week, the Flyers lead the NHL's Atlantic Division with a record of 29-17-5 for 63 points. It's the only occurrence of an NHL team and its AHL affiliate both leading their divisions in their respective leagues. The Flyers and Phantoms have a total of 60 wins and 128 points between them.

ON THE ROAD

The current five-game road swing is Philadelphia's longest of the season and the second of just three weekends this regular season where the Phantoms are on the road the entire weekend. The Phantoms are 14-8-1-1 on the road so far this season.

All four road games this weekend will be carried live on Phantomshockey.com via the B2 Networks. Fans can listen for free or buy a ticket to watch the game.

SPREADING THINGS OUT

On Saturday in Binghamton, 12 of Philadelphia's 17 skaters who dressed for the game recorded at least one point in the team's 5-1 win.

PHANTOMS NOMINATE GREENTREE

For the second straight week, the Phantoms nominated Kyle Greentree for Rbk/AHL Player of the Week honors. He scored two goals, including the game winner, in Friday's 3-2 win over Worcester, and also scored in the 5-1 win at Binghamton on Saturday. Greentree is on a four-game scoring streak and has seven points (4G, 3A) in those four games.
