
Canadiens Recall Carey Price And Assign Jaroslav Halak To Bulldogs

MONTREAL, QC - Montreal Canadiens General Manager Bob Gainey announced today that the Club has recalled goaltender Carey Price from the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League and assigned netminder Jaroslav Halak to Hamilton. The Bulldogs also announced that forward Jimmy Bonneau has been re-assigned to the Cincinnati Cyclones of the ECHL.
Price, a 20-year-old native of Williams Lake, British Columbia, was assigned to the AHL on January 8th, 2008 and appeared in 10 games with the Bulldogs, posting a 6-4-0 record, one shutout, a 2.69 goals against average and a 0.896 save percentage. In 19 games so far in his rookie season with the Canadiens, Price has a record of 9-7-3 with a 2.90 goals against average and a .907 save percentage.
After registering a 1-1-0 record with a 1.53 goals against average and a .949 save percentage in just two regular season games with Hamilton in 2006-2007, the 6-foot-3, 226-pound netminder won the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy as Playoff MVP for the 2007 Calder Cup playoffs with 15 wins, two shutouts, a 2.06 goals against average and a .936 save percentage. Price also won a gold medal as Canada's starting goaltender at the 2007 World Junior Hockey Championships in Sweden, was the 2007 Goaltender of the Year in the Canadian Hockey League and was selected to the Western Hockey League's First All-Star Team.
Halak, who took home the Rbk/AHL Player of the Week award for the period ending January 6th, 2008, has a record of 9-7-2 with two shutouts, a 2.26 goals against average and a .922 save percentage in 19 games with Hamilton this season. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound netminder has appeared in 60-career AHL games with the Bulldogs, going 32-24-2 with a franchise-record 11 shutouts. The 22-year-old native of Bratislava, Slovakia, is also 10-6-0 in 18-career NHL outings with Montreal, including two appearances this season, and was an AHL All-Star and a member of the AHL's All-Rookie Team in 2007.
Bonneau, a 22-year-old native of Baie-Comeau, Quebec, has appeared in six games with the Bulldogs this season, scoring his first-career AHL goal on December 12th, 2007 against the Grand Rapids Griffins. The 6-foot-3, 224-pound left-winger also has an assist, a plus-2 rating and 26 penalty minutes in seven games with the Cyclones this season.
The defending Calder Cup Champion Hamilton Bulldogs return to the ice on Wednesday, February 6th at 7:30 p.m. when they host the Lake Erie Monsters at Copps Coliseum.
