Hurricanes Call Up Aucoin For The Fourth Time
February 4, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Albany River Rats News Release
ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today that captain Keith Aucoin has been recalled from loan by the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League.
Aucoin, 29, who currently leads the River Rats in scoring and is tied for 12th in the American Hockey League with 45 points (8 goals, 37 assists), will now head back to the NHL for his fourth stint with the Hurricanes this season. The Waltham, Massachusetts native has played in 11 games for Carolina so far this year, scoring six points (2 goals, 4 assists) and adding a +6 rating. In his last call up with the Hurricanes Aucoin scored his first career NHL goal on January 10th against the New Jersey Devils and then scored his second goal on January 12th versus the Colorado Avalanche. That means that Aucoin is currently on a two-game NHL goal scoring streak as he rejoins the 'Canes lineup for their Tuesday night road game against the Nashville Predators at the Sommet Center in Tennessee.
Last week Aucoin served as the captain of the PlanetUSA All-Star team for the 2008 AHL All-Star Classic in Binghamton, New York. He helped his team win the Skills Competition and then added two assists in the actual All-Star game. In Albany's last home game, Aucoin tied two single-game River Rats franchise records (Most Assists and Most Points) by tallying five assists against the Syracuse Crunch on February 1st. The performance gave him 37 assists for the season, which ranks fifth best in the AHL.
The River Rats will bring their intense rivalry with the Syracuse Crunch to the Glens Falls Civic Center on Saturday, February 9th for a 7:00 pm face off against their I-90 rivals. Albany will return to the Times Union Center on Wednesday, February 13th as they host the Binghamton Senators at 7:00 pm.
Partial season tickets and flex ticket packages for the 2007-08 River Rats season are on sale now. For more information please contact the Albany River Rats at (518) 487-2244 or online at www.albanyriverrats.com.
